Fall Tea Party From: If Teapots Could Talk: Fun Ideas For Tea Parties

You can plan a fun tea party theme based on any of the four seasons. Welcome the cool, crisp days of autumn with a Fall Tea Party.

Write the invitation on a real fall-colored leaf using a paint pen, or on a leaf shape cut from colored card stock. Or write the party details on small pumpkins and hand deliver them.

Cover your serving table with a fall-colored tablecloth (burnt oranges, golden yellows, and autumn browns) or fall print fabric. Your centerpiece can be sunflowers or chrysanthemums in a hollowed-out pumpkin.

Serve Apple Tea (page 13), Pumpkin Tea Bread (recipe on this blog), Apple Scones (recipe on this blog) with Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Butter (recipe on this blog), Pecan Tartlets (page 52), tea sandwiches cut into leaf shapes using a small cookie cutter, and petit fours cut into leaf shapes and iced with orange and red-orange icing. See page 60 for petit four instructions.

For a fun activity, play the Fall Word Scramble game on page 83 or make up your own word scramble game using words like: kipmunp (pumpkin), creacwors (scarecrow), and sealve (leaves). Print about ten different scrambled words on a sheet of paper, copy the page and give one to each guest. The first guest to unscramble them all wins.

Guest favors can be a fall-scented votive candle in a pretty organza draw-string bag.
